WIPCO members now have the opportunity to subscribe to part of the output from the solar garden being built at the WIPCO Denison office.

The solar array will consist of 750 panels (modules) with a nameplate capacity of 410 watts each. Each panel will produce an average of 425 kWh’s of electricity each year. The array is expected to produce over 6 million kWh’s of clean, renewable electricity over the next 20 years. The array will also prevent over 5.5 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Western Iowa Power Cooperative’s mission is to enhance our members’ quality of life by providing safe and reliable electric services.

It has been found that only 20% of people that would like to have solar at their location, actually have a location suitable to do so. Reasons vary from space requirements, shading concerns to structural limitations.

WIPCO Members have the opportunity to subscribe to the program for as low as $23 a month. We will be monitoring production from the array on a monthly basis. In return for your investment, we will credit your bill each month for the output produced by your portion of system production. This credit will offset your monthly bill and any leftover credits will be carried to the next billing period. The initial
