About this resource

Solar information built around the renter

Solar Renter helps people understand shared solar, locate an official starting point and evaluate a subscription without pretending every offer is the same.

What we do

We translate community solar rules into plain-language steps: identify the utility account, verify the program, understand the credits and payments, and read the moving and cancellation terms.

01

Answer first

Every guide begins with the clearest useful answer, then adds the conditions that change it.

02

Source the rule

State and federal claims link to the agency, regulator or utility responsible for them.

03

Mark the date

Material guides show a review date so readers can judge whether to re-check a changing program.

04

Avoid false certainty

We do not label a project “open” unless a current official source supports that status.

What we do not do

Solar Renter is an educational resource. We do not sell community solar subscriptions, represent utilities, guarantee savings, or provide legal, tax or financial advice. A provider’s presence in an official list is not our endorsement.

Editorial standard

The rebuilt site was reviewed July 18, 2026. Priority sources include the U.S. Department of Energy, national-laboratory research, state energy offices, public utility commissions and consumer advocates. We distinguish program rules from provider marketing and link readers to current enrollment sources whenever possible.
